au where zayn is actually a famous solo artist and niall is his uni boyfriend and he spends long nights curled up on the sofa in the studio doing his homework while zayn records and writes with his team and sometimes he’ll throw out a question and zayn will give him the answer before going back to writing songs about him. and every now and then, when things get too serious, or zayn looks too stressed, niall gets up and steals whatever it is they’re writing and goes to “test it for him” just to see him laugh or smile or relax for just a second
